Bread of Heaven (Venezia 61)

When you have a great number of people who share a cultural background living together, as was the case in the Ghetto, you are likely to find a number of businesses that support that lifestyle.  Even post holocaust, this continues to be a Jewish community so you will find a kosher hotel and a couple of kosher restaurants that operate under the authority of Venice’s Chief Rabbi.

There are also a couple of kosher bakeries, though apparently run by non Jews as they open on the Sabbath.  I know a bit about kosher and halal butchery, but being a goi I’m pretty ignorant of the rules applying to kosher bakeries, though I’ve heard biblical references to unleavened bread I’d always assumed it was something like pitta or paratha until I saw this window display with its very short ingredients list:
