This happens to be one of my favourite views.  It’s a little misleading because the fact that both Salute (the domed basilica) and Punta della Dogana (the old customs house in front of it) are of similarly pale stone they blend into one, giving the impression of an even grander whole.

It may not be as awe inspiring as the Eiger Nordwand, as heart warming as a herd of elephant in East Africa, or as beautiful as the Annapurnas reflecting their sunset peaks in Phewa Lake but this, more than the Piazza, is iconic of the city that I feel so at home in.
