Stile Italiano (Venezia 280)

Italian design is in a class of its own; I won’t even begin to list the fashion designers as there are so many I’m bound to offend some readers by overlooking their favourites, but it doesn’t end there.  Italian cars can set the pulse racing; Ferrari (of course), Maserati, Lamborghini, Bugatti and of course the Alfa Spider.  On two wheels there’s Ducatti and of course the scooter brands: Vespa, Piaggio, Aprilia and more.

In my sport of cycling there’s Colnago, Bianchi, De Rosa and Pinarello.  More domestically there’s Alessi and even Zanussi!

So I wasn’t surprised to see a canopy set over the outside tables of a small trattoria had a collection of these lamp shades dangling from the slats of its roof.  The shade might even be from a well known Swedish furniture store for all I know, but it was the Italian attention to detail that felt they were a worthwhile investment for what was otherwise a fairly rustic setting.
