I recently posted a shot of one of the large arches and the people beneath it sheltering from a thunderstorm. This is the same archway taken from the rear, and just as my shot is reversed, so was the weather when I returned a couple of days after the rain. The sun was blisteringly hot, and this time it was pleasant to gain some relief by taking advantage of the shade created by the apartment blocks. Castello is much quieter than the neighbouring sestiere of San Marco so the tranquillity was another welcome element.
The air was so still, that not even the copious amounts of laundry made a flap or a flutter. A good day for drying nevertheless.
