Hidden away behind the walls of palaces and convents are Venice’s secret gardens.  There are the formal gardens where the Biennale is staged, and the occasional tree or two in the larger campi, but for the most part the greenery of the city is provided by the water.  There is nevertheless a Venetian Gardeners Association for those with green fingers, and for those with less ambition there is always the window box option.  Complete with insect life.
